Instal the new for apple TunnelBear2/24/2024 It's all very basic, with issues including a manual dated 2020 which didn't even describe the Quick Scan feature (because it arrived in 2021.) This isn't a critical issue - the app is simple, you'll probably never need the manual - but it leaves Mobile Security for iOS looking a little neglected, and suggests it's not going to see big new features any time soon. If you run into any technical troubles, then a support section includes a link to Bitdefender's Community Forum, a small number of FAQs and other items. This doesn't do very much - in portrait, more than half the dashboard's screen space was taken up with the scan verdict and a 'Scan again' button - but a simple menu bar does give speedy access to Mobile Security's other features. Scan completed, the app directed us to its Dashboard. Not for malware, but security vulnerabilities, apparently: an outdated iOS version, device configuration issues (the app doesn't clearly explain what these are) and Wi-Fi or network problems (we're unsure about those, too.) It's a very short list, but that made for a very quick scan (three seconds for us), and Mobile Security successfully identified a missing iOS update on our device. However, due to its lackluster speed, this app cannot be a recommended go-to app for everyone.(Image credit: Bitdefender) Bitdefender Mobile Security for iOS: Getting startedīitdefender Mobile Security for iOS installs easily, then prompts you to sign in with your Bitdefender, Facebook, Twitter, Google or Microsoft accounts.Īfter signing up, the app recommends running a 'quick scan'. The bottom line, there is no disputing that it is very easy to use and provides solid security. You might suffer a bit on the speed site, and there is a limited choice of servers available. The app provides one of the strongest digital protection without complicated options and interfaces. TunnelBear is a great choice if you just want something to protect your privacy while you browse. The app also cannot bypass geo-restrictions from streaming sites. But they’re bad when you put it against reliable VPNs, like NordVPN and ExpressVPN. However, while the app uses stronger encryption and higher security protocols, it lags when it comes to speed. Additionally, the app has a strict no-logging policy and is leak-free for your peace of mind. With this, all the digital data you have are safe from snoopers. TunnelBear uses the industry standard, OpenVPN protocol, and the 256-bit AES encryption to ensure your privacy while you surf online. The annual subscription is advisable as it offers the overall best deal. To get unlimited data and enjoy other features, like multiple simultaneous connections, you need to pay for either the monthly or annual subscription. However, the free version is only limited to 500 MB of bandwidth per month. Strong security, lackluster speedĪs mentioned, TunnelBear offers both free and premium subscriptions. However, you should use this function sparingly as it reduces the app’s performance. There is also the GhostBear function, which avoids VPN blocking by disguising VPN traffics as normal HTTPS traffic. Another important feature is the Vigilant mode, which prevents data from slipping through your internet connection when your device gets disconnected. Among those is the Trusted Networks, which is basically a whitelist of Wi-Fi networks that you trust. While TunnelBear comes with limited servers, it does include some advanced features. More so, it does not work on devices running an older operating system. A word of warning, though, installing the app takes ages to complete. All you need to do is click on the location you want to tunnel to on the map, and the app will do the rest.Īmong the popular VPNs today, TunnelBear is one of the easiest to use. Don’t worry about changing the server, as doing so is also simple. However, should you find a server that you trust, you can configure the app setting to connect or disconnect to that server automatically. Also, it doesn’t have a location search box and lacks a list of servers with some basic information, such as load and ping time. TunnelBear didn’t have many servers to choose from.
